I am a Cornish-born artist living and working near the Helford River - a lush tree-clothed area which inspires me daily on my walks, along with the rest of the county with its industrial landscapes and contrasting coasts. I take many photographs, some landscapes, but more often close-up shots of boats, old doors, locks and hinges and corrugated iron sheds, all of which show the signs of ageing and weathering that I love. I try to make these close-ups like abstract paintings themselves, I also love trees and flowers, and the changes that occur as the seasons work their magic on their colours and shapes. I studied Fine Art Textiles at Cornwall College and Fine Art and Contemporary Crafts at University College Falmouth, and my work is an eclectic mix of large, small, 2D and 3D, functional and decorative. I am currently working on a series of abstract acrylic paintings based on my photographs.
